We live in a world obsessed with resumes, curated feeds, and perfect backgrounds. We often convince ourselves that until we get our acts together, clean up our habits, or sort out our complicated lives, we can’t possibly be used by God.
But if you look at how Jesus actually operates, He has a habit of completely flipping that logic upside down.
Take the Woman at the Well.
By all accounts of her culture, this woman was a social and relational mess. She had been married five times, and the man she was currently living with wasn’t her husband. Because of the heavy social stigma and judgment from her community, she went to the local well at high noon—the hottest part of the day—just to avoid the glaring eyes and whispers of the other villagers.
She was isolated. She was broken. She was an outcast.
But Jesus purposely went out of His way to meet her there. He didn't wait for her to fix her relational history or go through a transformation sequence before speaking to her. He met her right in the middle of her complicated reality.
What happens next is the most beautiful part of the story. After a conversation where Jesus reveals that He truly knows her—every mistake, every hurt, and every flaw—and offers her living water, everything changes.
She doesn’t hide in shame anymore.
She leaves her water jar behind, runs straight back into the very town where she was an outcast, and starts telling everyone about Jesus.
Think about the audacity of that move. The very people she was hiding from a few moments prior are now the people she is preaching to. And the wild part? The town believed in Him because of her testimony. ### God Can Use Anyone (Including You)
If Jesus can take a socially isolated woman with a messy track record and turn her into the primary evangelist who brings an entire city to His feet, what makes you think He can’t use you?
Your background is not a barrier to the Kingdom of God; sometimes, it’s the very canvas God uses to display His grace.
Your past mistakes don't scare Him.
Your current struggles don't disqualify you.
Your reputation doesn't limit His power.
Stop waiting until you are "perfect" to speak up about what God is doing in your life. If you’ve encountered His grace, you have a story to tell. Like the woman at the well, your mess might just be the exact catalyst someone else needs to see to believe.
